Study Abroad

Studying abroad is a key part of the International Studies experience, offering students the chance to earn academic credit while immersing themselves in the cultures, politics, and everyday life of another country. This transformative experience deepens your understanding of global issues and enhances your academic, personal, and professional development.  

Majors are required to complete at least one department-approved study or internship abroad program—during a semester or summer—earning a minimum of 6 credit hours.  

The following programs are pre-approved for the International Studies major study abroad requirement:   

  • All College-run semester programs (Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Trujillo etc.)
  • All ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø bilateral (exchange) programs.
  • All ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø summer programs that are at least 3 weeks long and include a minimum of 6 credit hours.
  • iºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Programs (Dublin, London, Madrin, and Rome)
  • The following Affiliate Programs: Arcadia University, CIEE, CYA - College Year in Athens, Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS), IES, IFSA-Butler, ISEP, SACI –Studio Art Centers International, SFS School for Field Studies, SIT, University of Southern Mississippi, USAC

A wide range of approved programs can also be explored through the College’s Center for International Education. 

Note: students may request an alternative or exemption to the INTL Study Abroad requirement based on special circumstances.
