They can also join Sigma Iota Rho, the International Studies Honor Society, and connect with a global network of alumni and peers dedicated to international engagement.

Office of Nationally Competitive Awards
Our students work regularly with the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards to win national and international scholarships, including most recently with Fulbright, Rotary International, and National Geographic.
The team at the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards (NCA) helps students identify and apply for awards that support undergraduate and graduate study, independent research projects, language acquisition, and a variety of study abroad opportunities.

Franklin Barker West Memorial Scholarship
The Franklin Barker West Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of Barker West, a student whose warmth, leadership, and dedication inspired everyone who knew him. This award supports incoming ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø students who demonstrate a passion for International Studies—whether through coursework, study abroad, or volunteer experiences—and who embody Barker’s spirit of leadership and community. Recipients must also show strong academic potential and financial need. The scholarship is renewable for students who continue to uphold these qualities throughout their college journey.

James F. Snyder European Studies Award
Dr. James Snyder, a well-respected professor at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, organized several study abroad trips to Europe during his tenure. He created this award specifically for students who are majoring in International Studies and have a strong interest in Europe. The award is meant for students who excel academically and plan to take part in a study abroad program in Europe.

The Phi Chapter of at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø fosters and acknowledges academic excellence and community service in students and professionals studying international topics, global affairs, and world studies. We aim to inspire honesty and creative problem-solving in the way we handle global issues.

Honors and Awards
In addition to winning nationally competitive awards and prestigious campus-wide scholarships, INTL students also have the opportunity to earn awards and honors within the Department of International Studies. These awards are announced at the end of the academic year and celebrated at our annual LCWA awards ceremony. Stay tuned for more details in the Spring semester!
