The Perlmutter Fellows Program
Perlmutter Fellows provides financial support, mentorship, and community for emerging Jewish leaders at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. In this four-year program, selected fellows participate in networking events and enrichment opportunities, receive one-on-one professional mentorship, and benefit from individual academic consultation with program professors.

The Perlmutter Fellows Program is an initiative of Jewish Studies created to provide professional development, mentorship, financial support, and community for emerging Jewish leaders at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
Financial Support
Fellows can receive up to $10,000 in tuition assistance per year, if eligible. Fellows may also apply for two Discovery Awards over their time in the program totaling $4,000. These awards may be used for professional development opportunities, including study abroad, unpaid or underpaid internships, professional development programs, conference attendance, etc.
Eligibility
Jewish Studies faculty and directors of Jewish student life select each new group of Perlmutter Fellows from the incoming freshman class. All inducted students remain Perlmutter Fellow until graduation and beyond as long as they demonstrate an ongoing commitment to academic excellence, Jewish communal engagement, and a desire to lead and serve
Requirements
All fellows must major or minor in Jewish Studies and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to academic excellence and Jewish communal engagement, as well as a desire to lead and serve. Fellows must maintain a minimum 3.3 GPA, attend all monthly meetings during their first year and other activities as listed in the schedule provided at the beginning of each semester, and remain active within the program thereafter. Fellows are also required to demonstrate ongoing engagement with the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and CofC Jewish communities.

Rylie Baumohl
Rylie is from Atlanta, Georgia. She is a double major in Jewish Studies and Communications with a Marketing minor. On campus, she is involved in Hillel, Greek life, and is an intern for the Jewish Studies department for the Assistant Director for Community Relations. Off-campus, she works at Pure Barre as a front desk associate and helps with social media and marketing. She is excited to be a Perlmutter fellow because it allows her to get involved in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Jewish community, and it helps her gain leadership and communication skills with fellow students and community leaders.

Casey Elinger
Casey is from Roswell, Georgia. He is majoring in Accounting & Jewish Studies at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. He is a member of the Ultimate Frisbee team, Finance Club, and Mock Trial. He likes to do community service and participate at KKBE. During his free time, he enjoys playing poker, hanging out with friends, and going to the beach.

Caroline Gill
Caroline is from Birmingham, Alabama. She is majoring in political science with a minor in Jewish studies. Aside from being a student, she is the community relations intern for the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Jewish Federation, President of Students Supporting Israel, Foundation Ambassador to her sorority, Chi Omega, and South Carolina College Democrats’ Political Director. She loves being a Perlmutter fellow because it enriches her college experience by providing a community of other hard-working peers who aim to grow professionally and personally.

Emma Hurvitz
Emma is majoring in International Studies and minoring in Jewish Studies. She has been active in Jewish Studies, tennis club, surf club and Greek life. She has been involved in the Walk for Water foundation as well as interning at the Stern Student Center as a front desk assistant. The Perlmutter Fellowship has not only introduced her to some of her closest friends but has also given her a plethora of leadership skills. She has used those skills in real-time situations, including in her community service work and through leading programs over the summer. She has also developed excellent relationships with the Jewish Studies Program faculty that will help her with future professional and personal goals.

Molly Westfall
Molly is from Columbia, SC. she is majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Jewish Studies. On campus, she is involved in Hillel, the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø 40 Tour Guide Association, and volunteers at Kids on Point. Molly teaches 4th and 5th grade religious school at Synagogue Emanu-El. She is excited to be a Perlmutter fellow because of the wonderful community that the fellows have built within the program.

Giordanna Baker
Giordanna is from Los Angeles, CA. She is planning on majoring in Marketing and double minoring in Arts Management and Jewish Studies. She is part of the Division 1 Beach Volleyball team at The College and also works as an intern for the Hillel on campus. In high school, She was a part of an all-female acapella group and was a member of the varsity volleyball team. She is excited to be a fellow and can’t wait to continue to be more involved in campus activities!

Avery Bock
Avery is from Chicago, Illinois. She is majoring in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Jewish Studies. On campus, she is very involved in the Kappa Delta sorority and has been further involved in working with children in a lab preschool as well as volunteering at children’s homes within the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø area. Avery is excited to be a Perlmutter Fellow in order to be more involved within the Jewish community on campus with a group of passionate students.

Ian Bock
Ian is from Dallas, TX. He is a Finance major with a double minor in Jewish studies and International studies. He serves as the Vice President for Students Supporting Israel, is an active member of the campus Hillel, and is a Junior Senator for the 2025-26 academic year in the Student Government Association. He also regularly attends daily services at a local ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø synagogue. Ian enjoys being a Perlmutter Fellow because it gives him leadership opportunities within Jewish studies, as well as mentorship opportunities and connections in the larger ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Jewish community.

Isy Fern
Isy is from Austin, Texas. She is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Jewish Studies. At the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, she is part of the Delta Gamma sorority and the Swiftie club. She also wants to eventually join Students 4 Support once she have enough class credits. She is excited to be a Perlmutter Fellow because she wants to meet new people and make connections in the Jewish community here!

Rebecca Nathan
Rebecca is from the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. She is planning to major in business administration with a concentration in finance. She has yet to get super involved on campus, but is part of the Surf Club and Cheese Club. In high school, her main involvement was a club called Jews Who Reuse and by her senior year, she was President of the club. She is very excited to become a fellow, so she can become more involved and meet new people.
