AI, Music and Interaction Lab
In the AI, Music and Interaction Lab explore research in computer science and music, sonification, music information retrieval, 3D audio, artificial intelligence, interaction, and avant garde forms of music composition and performance, as well as music technology. Areas of interest include:
- sonification and interaction design
- spatial audio and virtual/augmented reality
- music performance and digital musical instruments
- interfaces for musical expression, including sensors and hardware
- interactive audio and game audio
- telematic performance
We explore all aspects of computer science (artificial intelligence, big data, human computer interaction, etc.) as they contribute to the above areas.

AImpact Lab
AImpact Lab explores the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence to improve education and address social challenges. Our research spans AI for Education, Learning Analytics, Educational Data Mining, and AI for Social Good. We work with real classroom data to design systems that enhance teaching, learning, and student well-being, and to develop innovative solutions for supporting student mental health. Our research outcomes are not only impactful in academic and societal contexts but are also highly transferable to industry, enabling real-world applications and collaborations. AR/VR Simulation Lab
The AR/VR Simulation Lab's primary focus is incorporating realistic algorithmic simulation scenarios within virtual or augmented reality settings for recreational, gamified, and therapeutic mental health applications. The lab also allows for motion capturing, green screen virtual production, and content creation.

CIRDLES
National Science Foundation-funded Cyber Infrastructure Research and Development Lab for the Earth Sciences () invents and develops software tools and data processing techniques to automate the workflow of geoscientists in determining the age of the earth. CIRDLES also invents and develops software testing tools, visualization tools, and mobile apps. Critical Art and Technology Lab (CATLab)
The (CATLab) uses emergent forms of art, design and digital media to critically engage with broader social questions. Our work utilizes diverse tools and tactics ranging from digital games to AR/VR and tangible interfaces as part of a research and practice-based approach, exploring new modes of creative inquiry for social change.

Cybersecurity and Blockchain Research (CBR) Lab
The Cybersecurity and Blockchain Research Lab mainly focuses on computer, communication and network security. Specific interests are:

The Drone Lab works at the forefront of pioneering UAV drone research. Software Security and Machine Learning Lab
explores data dependent approaches to address research problems in cybersecurity, software engineering and systems biology. Universal Design & Engineering Lab (UDEL)
Universal Design & Engineering Lab (UDEL) UDEL combines universal design principles with advanced software engineering practices to create innovative accessibility solutions for mobility, vision, hearing, and cognitive challenges. Undergraduate researchers apply the full software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment) to build adaptive interfaces, AI-powered accessibility tools, and inclusive design prototypes. Projects integrate disciplines such as human-computer interaction, cloud services, AI/ML, and real-time systems. The lab’s always-on demo stations feature live captioning, switch-access interfaces, eye-tracking UIs, tactile displays, and cognitive assistance tools. These serve as both research platforms and engaging showcases for campus tours, industry partners, and community outreach.
