    Nicole Killen (she/her)

    Director of Sustainability 

    Nicole first came to the College as a graduate student in the concurrent Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Public Administration programs. As a graduate assistant with the CSD, Nicole worked on student-facing programming. Her thesis was on creating sustainable behavior change with recycling in athletic facilities at the College. She moved into a full time role as the Associate Director of Student Engagement in 2023, then transitioned to the Director of Sustainability a year later in 2024. Her primary focus as director is overseeing sustainability-related initiatives at the College, and guiding the implementation of the Sustainability Action Plan. Some other fun information about Nicole is that she was a collegiate softball player and has been to 46 out of the 50 states.

    Katie Doherty (she/her)

    Zero Waste Manager

    She is responsible for the strategy, management and continuous improvement of the College's zero waste initiatives. She's an advocate for sustainable waste management, manages partnerships with stakeholders, and works on improving the infrastructure, programs and services for our campus community. In her free time, she helps care for birds of prey at the Avian Conservation Center!

     

    Abbey Vohs (she/her)

    Student Programs Coordinator

    As Student Programs Coordinator, Abbey supports and implements a range of student engagement opportunities designed to connect students with both academic and operational aspects of sustainability on campus. She works to embed sustainability into the student experience, fostering inclusive, action-oriented programs and events that prepare students to be changemakers in a rapidly evolving world. A fun fact about Abbey is that she was trained pre-professionally in classical ballet!

     

    Gwenaelle Monnet-Yague (she/her)

    Graduate Assistant

    Gwenaelle is a first-year graduate student in the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Master's Program at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. She received her B.S. in Environmental Science and minored in Political Science from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. A fun fact about Gwenaelle is that she is trilingual!

     

    Will Roberts (he/him)

    Graduate Assistant

    Will is a first-year graduate student in the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Master's Program at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. He received his B.S. in Environmental Science from Assumption University in Worcester, MA. As a Graduate Assistant at the CSD, Will helps develop sustainability reports, manages Zero Waste and Climate data, leads the greenhouse gas inventory to continue developing the College's Climate Action Plan, manages climate-related events and initiatives, and assists staff with various other tasks. A fun fact about him is that he played ice hockey in college.

    Emma Botzenhardt (she/her)

    Cougar Changemaker Chair

    Emma is a senior majoring in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration. As the Chairperson for the Cougar Changemaker Committee, Emma will be working to help manage funding and bring student-led initiatives to life across campus. She is passionate about human rights and social sustainability and is excited to on a team that turns ideas into action! A fun fact about Emma is that she tried to learn how to bake sourdough bread this summer!

    Eric Dowd (he/him)

    Zero Waste Lead

    As the Zero Waste Lead Intern, Eric works to provide support for Zero Waste Management in plans to reach the goal of zero waste by 2035, as well as support and maintain our current waste diversion programs and initiatives. Eric is also completing zero waste proposals with Atlas, a 3-Stage Student Fellowship Program that Provides Zero Waste Consulting Deliverables to College Campuses A fun fact is that he has a twin brother!

    Hayleigh Ebel (she/her)

    Community Engagement Lead

    Hayleigh oversees the Living Lab program, which connects students with local non-profits in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø community. This allows students to complete short-term projects and gain professional development skills while engaging with and supporting the community. Hayleigh’s first car was a convertible Volkswagen Beetle with eyelashes. Her name was Margo!

    Giselle Gary (she/they)

    Program Support Specialist

    As the Sustainability Program Support Specialist, Gisele is supporting the Share Programs that the CSD provides, such as increasing bike and recycling bin accessibility to students! Gisele is also involved in the Zero Waste Initiative, and helps to facilitate events that reduce food, clothing, and furniture waste from campus. A fun fact about Giselle is that she went skydiving this year!

    Abby Hiller (she/her)

    Marketing & Communications Lead

    As the Marketing & Communications Lead at the Center for Sustainable Development, Abby creates marketing materials to promote the Center's mission, programs, and events. She also manages our public identity through social media and the Resilient Advocate newsletter. A fun fact is that her favorite book and movie is Pride and Prejudice. 

    Alex Hutchins (she/they)

    Student Engagement & Outreach Lead

    Alex is a senior Environmental and Sustainability Studies major at the College. As the student engagement & outreach lead, she develops strategies to work to build an active sustainability culture in the CofC student body. She also works to improve education and awareness around important sustainability topics. A fun fact about Alex is that they are on the cheer team at the College.

    Jadyn Lembeck (she/her)

    Project Implementation Lead

    As the Project Implementation Lead at the Center for Sustainable Development, Jadyn maintains past student-proposed initiatives that the Center has funded through the Cougar Changemaker Program, determines the feasibility of all new proposals as they emerge, works with students and off-campus partners to facilitate their enactment, and ensures the community is informed upon their completion. She also serves as an advisory member for the Cougar Changemaker Committee. A fun fact about Jadyn is that she is Scuba Certified and will never shy away from an excuse to get outdoors.

    Abby Malloy (she/her)

    Staff & Academic Engagement Lead

    Abby is a senior majoring in Environmental and Sustainability Studies with a minor in Geology and a Sustainable Business Solutions Certificate. As the Staff and Academic Engagement Lead, she works with staff and faculty at The College through providing Sustainability in Academics support and running the Green Office Certification Program. A fun fact about Abby is that she has seen two sea turtle nest being laid!

    Sally Peyrebrune (she/her)

    Sustainable Operations & Data Lead

    Sally is a sophomore double majoring in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Biology. As the Sustainable Operations and Data Lead, she uses GIS tools to collect and verify data about campus spaces and facilities. She helps create maps, reports, and guides to support Facilities Management staff while assisting with data cleanup, troubleshooting, and sustainability-related projects. Sally enjoys competing in triathlons and would like to complete an Ironman when she graduates!

    Katie Villandry (she/her)

    Free Store Manager

    Katie is a senior Communications student at the College. She is the manager of the Cougar Free Store and Reuse Lead. The Free Store consists of donations from the campus community and is an accessible resource for students, faculty and staff to have gently used items like school supplies, clothing, and more. With her position, she aims to reduce waste from landfills, while encouraging a circular economy by providing a space for reuse on campus. A fun fact about Katie is that she’s in a CofC acapella group called the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Vibes.
