Steven Schreiner

Dean, School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics

 Steve Schreiner

Steven Schreiner, Ph.D., P.E. was appointed the inaugural Dean of the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics on June 1, 2025. A distinguished leader in engineering education and research, Schreiner brings extensive experience in academic leadership, biomedical engineering and interdisciplinary innovation.

Dean Schreiner joins us from Manhattan University, where he served as provost and vice president for academic affairs and a professor of electrical and computer engineering. As provost he oversaw five academic schools, academic and student success, international programming, adult learning, non-credit programming, information technology services, instructional design, institutional research and assessment, the library, the registrar’s office, as well as campus-wide centers including the Center for Urban Resilience and Environmental Sustainability, the Holocaust, Genocide, and Interfaith Education Center, the Camino ESL Program and the nationally recognized Veterans Success Center.

Prior to joining Manhattan University, he was the dean of the School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) where he led strategic initiatives and fundraising efforts that increased student success and enrollment as well as research funding and scholarship, including undergraduate scholarship. Under his leadership, new majors and concentrations were created including a new MEd in STEM Education and a BS in Biomedical Engineering. He oversaw the transformation of the engineering facilities, including the building of a new STEM building and a renovation of existing facilities, which led to a dramatic increase in student and faculty research and design spaces to fuel innovation. Prior to TCNJ, he was the founding chair of biomedical engineering at Western New England University. Prior to his academic career, he worked as an engineer in the natural gas industry and a startup medical device company.

Schreiner earned his B.S. in electrical engineering from Western New England University and his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University. His research interests include medical instrumentation, image-guided and robotic surgery, medical imaging, medical signal and image processing and STEM education.

His passion and experience for STEM education, research, and innovation will be invaluable as the college continues to grow and enhance opportunities for our students and faculty as it relates to engineering, computing, and mathematics.
