Honors Engaged
Honors Engaged introduces you to the life of a scholar-citizen. You'll learn proven community impact strategies, then apply those ideas as an active volunteer with a local organization.
Honors Engaged is a year-long learning experience for first-year honors scholars. You’ll enroll in an Honors course focused entirely on service learning and community engagement. And you'll volunteer with a local organization, supporting their work to address critical issues impacting our city.
But Honors Engaged is much more than a service requirement. It's an opportunity to…
- develop and practice real world skills.
- make an immediate impact on your new community.
- set yourself up for future success as a scholar-citizen.
Classroom Concepts
During weekly class meetings, you and your classmates will explore best practices for successful service learning. You’ll also get to reflect on your volunteer work and make big-picture connections that align with your own long-term goals.Community Impact
Alongside your work in the classroom, you’ll be paired with a community partner: A campus or local organization that is conducting meaningful work in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø area. In small groups, you and your peers will take on a service-learning project tailored to address the organization's needs.
Honors Engaged exposed me to real-world issues facing communities and equipped me with the skills and knowledge to address them effectively.
