Murray Hannon received her undergraduate degree from Sarah Lawrence College and her M.A. in history from the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. Murray's research centers around 20th century American women's history, often related to illegality, sex, and the body. Her master's thesis was titled "Women and the 'Source' of Vice: Regulating Sex, Regulating Health in WWII-Era ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, South Carolina." Her research explores the abrupt end to ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø's centuries-old sex work industry in 1941 due to federal concerns regarding the spread of venereal disease the Navy sailors. The ensuing focus on policing 'promiscuous' women resulted in the arrest and detainment of hundreds of women residing in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.Education
