Research Interests
My primary research interests lie in the intercultural contexts of Ancient Greek philosophy, particularly how the evolution of Panhellenism and the religious practice of xenia shaped the practice of philosophy in Plato and other classical writers. I am interested in how philosophy fostered intercultural relationships among persons from different Greek poleis and between Greek-speaking and non-Greek speaking peoples. I also have a secondary research interest in ancient slavery and its modern impacts.
