Claire Long, Ph.D.


Program Coordinator / Director of Experiential Learning

Dr. Claire Long is the Program Coordinator and Director of Experiential Learning for the Arts Management Program at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. She is also an adjunct faculty member and a proud alumna of the College, where she earned her B.A. in Arts Management with minors in Music and Studio Art.

Claire holds a Ph.D. in Leadership with a Business concentration, as well as a Master of Arts Management (MAM) from Carnegie Mellon University. Her doctoral research explored mentorship and relational leadership in arts internships through creative, arts-based methods. Earlier in her career, she researched accessibility in the arts and completed an eight-month consulting project with four major museums in Pittsburgh to improve access for individuals with disabilities.

Since returning to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in 2016, Claire has managed the operations of the Arts Management Program and directed its experiential learning initiatives including internships, community partnerships, and study abroad while teaching and developing courses on creativity and art careers. She is deeply committed to connecting students with high-impact learning experiences and fostering a culture of mentorship and inclusion in the arts.

In addition to her work in higher education, Claire teaches beginner pottery classes at the Clay Cottage in Mount Pleasant, where she enjoys sharing the creative process with students of all ages.
